Evitar reinicios innecesarios en Citrix Xenserver 5
Sunday, December 7th, 2008Los técnicos de Citrix no han reparado en que con partprobe no es necesario reiniciar un anfitrión por un reparticionado de discos, si algún día os encontrais con que necesitais volver a escanear la tabla de particiones de los discos instalad partprobe desde los repositorios de Centos y ejecutadlo, os ahorrareis reinicios innecesarios, eso sí, tened en cuenta que el despliegue de paquetes ajenos a la instalación original no está soportado.
Cambio de contexto en opencms 6.2
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Es normal querer cambiar la ruta /opencms/opencms de opencms por estética.
Tras buscar y leer creo que el cambio de contexto más elegante es el siguiente basado en dos pasos, uno para el primer opencms de la url y otro para el segundo:
- El primer opencms de la url se cambia publicando nuestro opencms con un contexto diferente dentro del directorio
$CATALINA_HOME/conf/[enginename]/[hostname]/ - El segundo opencms de la url siguiendo estas instrucciones que vienen dentro del fichero web.xml de opencms 6.2:

For example, to change the servlet name to “mycms” you must
1. Change the <context-param> called “OpenCmsServlet” from “/opencms/*” to “/mycms/*”

3. Change the <error-page> setting for the 404 error from “/opencms/handle404″ to “/mycms/handle404″

Cosas que deberían tenerse en cuenta antes de ponerse a desarrollar
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008Informarse sobre la infraestructura en que la aplicación dará servicio: software de base, las versiones,S.O., si está en cluster, que tipo de cluster, características de la/s máquina/s, proceso por el cual se valida una aplicación para su puesta en producción, si convivirá con otras aplicaciones,…, en resumen: informarse.
Construir un entorno los más similar posible al entorno que servirá la aplicación, donde desarrollar la aplicación y realizar pruebas de carga en él pues una aplicación para uno no se comporta igual que para 10000, aunque el desarrollador debería saberlo. No se las veces que he escuchado “lleva meses funcionando sin problemas” y que no haya pasado la implantación del despliegue de ficheros por errores en el código o base de datos. Hoy que está tan de moda la virtualización, cualquiera con un equipo actual puede simular una infraestructura más o menos compleja para desarrollar.
Un error es un error, “eso no importa” es una frase que no debería estar dentro del vocabulario de un desarrollador.
Con lo que he comentado se pueden ahorrar hasta dos semanas de adaptación de la aplicación por haberse desarrollado para un entorno diferente del que la servirá finalmente.
Espero que a quien lo lea le sirva para algo aunque venga de alguien que no sabe demasiado de desarrollo pero que al menos una vez leyó sobre Ingeniería de Software

Sunday, February 24th, 2008Apuntes técnicos es el nombre que he elegido para este blog pues únicamente escribiré post técnicos, ¿por qué?, pues porque su creación ha venido promovida por ahorrar a los lectores de mi otro blog el tener que leer cosas que les suenan a chino.
El que trabaje o esté relacionado con el mundillo de la informática, sabrá de lo que le hablo.
